20 years as Foundation University under Public Law

Public event on 21 November in the Aula at Wilhelmsplatz - all welcome

Over 20 years ago on 1 January 2003, the University of Göttingen transferred to being a foundation university under public law. To mark this anniversary, the University warmly invites you to a public event on Tuesday 21 November for a live debate and panel discussion (in German). The event starts at 19:30 in the Aula at Wilhelmsplatz 1. Please register by email on veranstaltungsmanagement@uni-goettingen.de or telephone (0551) 39-25381.

Professor Metin Tolan, President of the University, will welcome the guests. Professor Peter Strohschneider, Chair of the University’s Foundation Council, will give a welcome address. Afterwards, the debating club of the University of Göttingen will take part in a live debate on the topic of -Stiftungsuniversität - Pro & Contra- (Foundation University - pros and cons).

The panel discussion which follows is entitled -Stiftungsuniversitäten - ein Modell für die Zukunft?- (Foundation universities - a model for the future?). Joining Tolan and Strohschneider in the discussion will be Falko Mohrs, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Science and Culture, Professor Wolfgang Brück, Chair of the Board of the University Medical Center Göttingen, and Professor Susanne Menzel-Riedl, President of the University of Osnabrück and Chair of the Lower Saxony State University Conference.

Professor Hans-Michael Heinig, a legal scholar from Göttingen, will give the closing address.
