Assistant Professor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science in Radiation Oncology

(limited to 4 years with option to extend)

The University Hospital for Radio-Oncology, together with its alliance partners, is one of the largest providers of radiotherapy in Switzerland and a central cross-sectional service provider of the University Cancer Center Inselspital UCI. In addition to highly specialised services, the clinic covers a wide range of basic radio-oncology care. The clinic runs comprehensive research programs in the fields of medical physics, innovation and technology, radiobiology, clinical research and data science.

To strengthen the portfolio of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science, a new professorship for "AI and Data Science in Radiation Oncology" is being created in close collaboration with the ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research and the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine CAIM.

Requirements

The future position holder will have an excellent track record in AI modelling and data science with applications in the field of oncology, preferably radiation oncology. Experience in the field of oncological imaging is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on successfully completed translational projects, ideally to the point of clinical application. Work on the importance of data quality and robustness of AI models is an advantage.

Applicants should have a PhD in computer science, computational science or other related fields, with at least 5 years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher (Advanced PostDoc, or Senior Researcher level). Furthermore, you should have an independent research profile, including the establishment of an internationally competitive research group and the competitive acquisition of external funding.

The professorship is expected to be highly active in promoting young researchers and teaching. In addition to scientific excellence, strong communication skills are indispensable for the successful accomplishment of the range of tasks. The position is limited to 4 years. An evaluation will then be carried out and there may be an option for an extension.
