The Adolphe Merkle Institute (?url=www.ami.swiss&module=jobs&id=158229" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.ami.swiss) is an established independent center of competence associated with the University of Fribourg. AMI prides itself with an unusual blend of fundamental and application-oriented research within a multidisciplinary setting and strives to be a leader in interdisciplinary research on soft nano-science.

Your Tasks

The BioNanomaterial’s group research aims to study the synthesis and characterization of highly complex inorganic nanoparticles designed for biomedical applications and their behavior in biological systems and the interaction with cells, in particular with respect to uptake mechanism, cell response, and intracellular trafficking. A focus will be the use of advanced 3D models such as lung and intestine to assess the hazard of nanoparticles. As such, it relies on a variety of tissue engineering approaches, analytical as well as microscopy techniques, both from the material and the biological field.


We aim at attracting the best talents in the respective research field and expect:

  • A PhD degree in e.g, cell biology, tissue engineering, biochemistry, nanoscience.
  • Inter- and multidisciplinary thinking; strong motivation and interest to join one an ambitious interdisciplinary research cluster
  • Supervision of Master and PhD students in the group, involvement in teaching activities
  • An integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills;
  • Fluency in English – written and oral
