Tenure-track assistant professor for an associate professorship in comparative Public administration

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) wishes to expand its team by recruiting a

Tenure-track Assistant Professor for an Associate Professorshipin Comparative Public Administration

Expected start date in position : 1st August 2021

Contract length : two years, renewable twice (6 years in total)

Activity rate : 100%

Workplace : Dorigny, Lausanne

In your functions, you will have to :

• Teaching (45%)

Five hours a week of teaching throughout the year (a detailed description is available in the job description in pdf format)

Supervision of Master’s dissertations and PhD theses.

• Research (45%)

The post-holder will pursue his/her own research in comparative public administration, with an emphasis on the institutional and macro-comparative analysis of political-administrative systems in Western and especially European countries, with a particular focus on Switzerland.

It is expected that the person appointed will be affiliated to the Laboratory for Analysis of Governance and Public Policy in Europe (LAGAPE) of the Institute of Political Studies and will collaborate with its members on joint projects. Joint ventures with IDHEAP are also encouraged. S/he will be expected to produce high-quality academic publications.

S/he will seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

• Administrative responsibilities (10%)

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :

• Doctorate in political sciences, public administration or equivalent;
• Academic teaching experience;
• Proven research record in the field of comparative public administration;
• Excellent links with international networks;
• Ability to attract external funding;
• Openness to a diverse range of research methods: qualitative, quantitative and combined;
• Good knowledge of the Swiss political and administrative system required;
• Proficient in French and English.
