The Centre for Military History and Social Sciences of the Federal Armed Forces is a federal research institution in the portfolio of the BMVg (Federal Ministry of Defence.) It conducts basic research in the fields of military history, military sociology and security policy. Its results serve the Federal Ministry of Defence as information, decision-making support and advisory services, as well as members of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, the specialised sciences and the interested public.
