Group Leader Membrane Protein Expression

The position

leadXpro is urgently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic group leader in protein expression who will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists working on leadXpro proprietary and partnered projects, within a highly collaborative international environment. The successful candidate will oversee all protein expression activities and manage fellow team members. Furthermore, the person will be responsible for project leadership outside of expression team activities.

Key tasks and responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to work within a dynamic team that values transparency, integrity, reliability, respect and a passion for science to create benefits for patients.

Key duties include:

• Shaping the strategy to enhance the capabilities and to advance technologies of the protein production effort in the company.
• Coordinating and prioritizing project work both within the team and across other teams
• Working independently but as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientist
• Mentoring, managing, developing and be the source of expertise for fellow members of the team
• Facilitates knowledge capture and understanding of the key challenges in membrane protein expression and push the technological boundaries of different expression system
• Analysing, reporting and presenting data to project teams, clients or supervisors
• Identifying and implementing novel technologies including ways for upscaling recombinant expression of difficult membrane protein targets as well as implementation of screening methods (e.g. fluorescence-based techniques) and automation
• Driving and coordinating projects (with clients and/or internal projects) in order to bring projects to a successful completion (protein target & alliance coordination)

Your qualifications

Applicants should preferably have a PhD in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or a related discipline. Other essential qualifications include a track record in membrane protein expression, >5 years of experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment, experience with team and project management, as well as, excellent communication and fluency in English.
