Das zurzeit allgemein anerkannte Alter unseres Sonnensystems beträgt 4,567 Milliarden Jahre. Ermittelt wurde es 2002 von Forschenden anhand des radioaktiven Zerfalls von Uran zu Blei. Dies ist die allgemeine Messmethode bei der Altersbestimmung in den Geo- und Planetenwissenschaften.
